Health insurance

Be healthy, wealthy and financially wise

While protection insurance may not seem like a priority now, it could have a profound effect on your life in the future.

After all, have you ever thought how you and your family would cope if you suddenly lost your income? It’s not nice to think about. But it’s prudent to think it through nonetheless. Because even if you’re young, we can all get too ill to work, or have some other tragedy strike through a fatal illness or accident. This is where protection insurance comes in. It gives you peace of mind that you’ll have the finances in place for any dependents you may have. With the right level of life insurance and critical illness cover, your family will be looked after, no matter what happens to you.

What are my options?

Life insurance: This kind of policy usually only pays out if you pass away. It’s designed to help families live comfortably after an earner has gone. For example, it may be used to pay off a mortgage or loan, or simply provide some extra financial security.

Critical illness insurance: This pays you a lump sum in the event you’re diagnosed with a critical illness. If you lose your income due to long-term illness, it can be used to pay the bills, or pay off any debts you might have. Though because it doesn’t usually pay out after you pass away, it won’t provide for your family after you’ve gone.

Why should I get cover?

According to a recent survey, more than half of the UK’s ‘breadwinners’ with children have no insurance in place. This means their families could suffer if something serious was to happen. Worse still, the number is on the rise. What’s more, nearly half of the UK don’t have a Will, power of attorney, guardianship or trust arrangements in place. And many would rather rely on their savings, which in many cases, only adds up to three months’ income.

In fact, only 18% have a critical illness policy, leaving millions of families in a precarious place. Yet with a little help from us, yours needn’t be one of them. And it needn’t be a chore, either.

Don’t gamble with your future

From missed mortgage payments, to depleted savings, selling the family home or simply lowering your living standards. It’s not worth the stress or the worry to leave it to chance. Especially in light of recent changes to bereavement benefits, which aren’t even available if you’re in a cohabiting relationship.
